Working Safely Around Railroad Tracks

An introduction to railroad safety for people who may work near railroad tracks and highway-rail grade crossings

This class is currently offered for FREE. Check back for dates and registration info.

Participants will gain an increased awareness of common hazards, near-track environments, and general safety principles that support safe decision-making and hazard recognition around railroad operations.

No prior railroad experience is required. Professional Development Hours (PDHs) are available, and participants will receive an NC LTAP Roads Scholar credit.

Working Safely Around Railroad Tracks is a half-day class that will be offered regularly throughout North Carolina. Agency-only trainings are available at your location upon request.

RailTAP is funded by the Federal Railroad Administration’s Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program. It is delivered through a public-private partnership between NC State University and the North Carolina Railroad Company to deliver advanced safety training and resources.
