Working Safely Around Railroad Tracks

An introduction to railroad safety for people who may work near railroad tracks and highway-rail grade crossings

Participants will gain an increased awareness of common hazards, near-track environments, and general safety principles that support safe decision-making and hazard recognition around railroad operations.

No prior railroad experience is required. Professional Development Hours (PDHs) are available, and participants will receive an NC LTAP Roads Scholar credit.

Half-day class; will be offered regularly throughout North Carolina

RailTAP is funded by the Federal Railroad Administration’s Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program. It is delivered through a public-private partnership between NC State University and the North Carolina Railroad Company to provide advanced safety training and resources.
