Person removing a Triangle Travel Survey postcard from their mailbox

September 17, 2024

The North Carolina Department of Transportation, GoTriangle, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), and the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC-MPO) have launched an important survey of how people travel across the Triangle region.

This survey – administered by the Institute for Transportation Research and Education at NC State University (ITRE) every two years since 2016 – will help the agencies better understand local travel needs and identify transportation priorities for the region. This data is especially critical as day to day travel continues to evolve in our region.

Thousands of households across Durham, Johnston, Orange, Wake, and portions of Alamance, Chatham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Nash, and Person counties are expected to participate from September – October of this year. Randomly selected households will be invited to participate by mailed invitation to ensure that travel behavior across the region is accurately represented.

If your household is invited to participate you will receive an invitation letter or postcard in the mail with instructions to begin the survey. Invited households have the option to complete the survey online, by phone, or through a smartphone app developed by the project consultants, RSG.

Your input matters! We want to hear from you even if you don’t make many trips day to day. If invited, please participate and do your part in helping our region.
