Professional Engineering (PE) Civil Engineering Review Course

This is a civil engineering professional engineering exam review course which covers breadth and depth topics in construction, geotechnical, transportation, and water resources and environmental.  Only breadth topics are covered in the structural discipline. Class size is limited; therefore, students will be accepted in the order their application is received.

Starting April 1, 2022, the PE Civil exam will be offered with computer -based testing (CBT) only, with appointments on demand at Pearson VUE test centers.  The last pencil and paper format exam will be held in October 2021. As the ITRE PE review course pivots to support this new testing format, registrants for the PE review courses beginning after October 2021 through October 2022 will have access to course materials as well as all updates to course materials for an additional six months. While this transition is occurring, any participant who does not pass the exam following their review session will be eligible for access to the online review course.

ITRE’s April to October 2021 Wednesday night review will be the last review course offered based on the traditional paper-and-pencil exam format. Starting with the 2022 exams, an NCEES reference handbook will be the only material available for use during the exam.  A transition period will occur as course materials are redeveloped to reflect the new exam format. Review classes offered in 2022 will be held as planned, with course materials being updated as the reference handbook becomes available.

There are multiple offerings for this course:

Online Class (On Demand)

This PE Exam Review Course is offered jointly with the NC State University College of Engineering as a collaboration with the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering and the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE). EXAMPLE FOOTAGE FROM THE ONLINE FE REVIEW COURSE [YOUTUBE]

I was referred to the ITRE PE Review course soon after an unsuccessful attempt of the PE Exam. The following week I was driving 4 hours, one way, from Hendersonville to Raleigh to be in the classroom. I saw that the average second attempt had a 30% pass rate, so I knew I needed to put in about 3 times the effort. Nothing prepares you for the PE Exam like the practice exam I took from the ITRE PE Exam review class. I am grateful for the ITRE PE Review course and I know that I was successful, particularly on the morning portion, because of the course.

– Jonathan Burrell, PE

The results have come out, and I passed the PE on the first try! With a 2 year engineering degree and being out of school for over 20 years, the ITRE review course was exactly what I needed. It touched on the subject matter that had been long forgotten. I firmly believe that this review course, along with the helpful hints of the instructors, helped me prepare for this exam and gave me the tools that I needed on exam day.
