ITRE is engaged in applied research that provides guidance to decision-making at the local, state and national level through establishing sound research methods, test procedures, analyzing data and developing reports. Recent studies include ideal ways to accommodate non-motorized modes on superstreets; guidance on the placement of rumble strips to allow for the accommodation of bicyclists on steep downhill grades; and guidance on how to evaluate pedestrian crossing requests to consider the right treatment option for the right location.
