The increase in large-scale shopping center developments, also known as power cneters, have led to concern about the ITE Trip Generation Manual’s ability to accurately predict the impacts of these facilities. Data from 10 power centers was collected to investigate trip generation characteristics and appropriately predict trips at power centers. The research resulted in a recommendation that ITE land use code 820 be used for estimating trips for the PM peak, Saturday peak , and daily total at power centers. For the AM peak use Code 820 for the anchor store and in-line retail, and outparcel stores use their individual land use type.
