For more information visit: www.itre.ncsu.edu/PTG/education/Certificate.html

Public Transportation Group developed the Transit Technical Certificate Program to assist transit operators in implementing technology. This program provides training in software use, technical processes and procedures, and job-specific skills. Various training courses are offered throughout the year. ITRE's Transit Technical Certificate Program offers a comprehensive, technical curriculum to transit operators. The program consists of 8-9 required core courses, one elective course, and a capstone project. The core courses vary slightly for persons working in each of the following service types: rural, urban demand-responsive, and urban fixed-route. Course topics include: database concepts, GIS applications, and fixed-route analysis systems (in-house application). Program participants are required to choose one elective offered through ITRE or at another site of their choice. Each student progresses through the courses toward the final step: a capstone project customized specifically for each student.

Course calendars will be produced on a semiannual schedule. It will take a minimum of 1 year to 18 months for an individual to complete this program.

Transportation Leadership Development Program

For application and more information visit: www.itre.ncsu.edu/PTG/education/TLDP.html

PTG has partnered with TEAM, Inc. to provide a dynamic leadership program designed to give transportation professionals an opportunity to significantly improve their decision-making and leadership skills. It provides a framework for each participant to shape his or her own unique leadership style. As the implementors of technology in North Carolina, matching skill sets to the technology has become a focus of the Transportation Computer Lab. PTG has established a Transit Technical Certificate Program to move technical training courses further into transit-specific software applications, technical processes, procedures training, and job-specific technical skills training.
