Jim Westmoreland
Jim Westmoreland, P.E., is the Director of Transportation for the City of Greensboro. He has served in this role since December 1999 and has been with the City of Greensboro, Department of Transportation since June of 1996. In his role as Director he directs five Operating Divisions (Public Transportation, Engineering, Operations, Planning, and Business/Parking), leads a staff complement of 220+ full time employees, and manages the department's annual $38 million budget.
Prior to joining the City of Greensboro, Jim worked with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 5 years and a private consulting firm 3 years prior.
Jim has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and is a registered professional engineer. He is a Past President (2003) of the North Carolina Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (a statewide professional organization with 450+ members and affiliates), serves as the Technical Coordinating Chair of the Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, serves as an Executive Committee Member on the NC Secretary of Transportation's Executive Committee for Highway Safety, serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation, serves on the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee, serves as a Goal Area Council Chair for the United Way of Greater Greensboro, and serves as a staff liaison Greensboro Transit Authority Board and the Greensboro City Council.
