Speaker Biographies - Bill Gaines

Bill Gaines is a USFS forest wildlife ecologist with the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Bill earned his B.S. and M.S. in Biology from Central Washington University, and Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from the University of Washington. During his 24 years with the Forest Service, Bill considers himself fortunate to have worked with many extremely capable scientists, managers, and members of the public. Except for a short time spent on the Caribbean National Forest, Bill’s career has been living, learning, and working in eastern Cascades environments. His jobs have included work as a research ecologist with a consulting firm, district wildlife biologist on three different ranger districts, and as forest wildlife biologist. Bill also has worked on international projects in Pakistan and Ecuador.
