Board Walk
Not part of the banking program, this site is an example of an
enhancement activity in which Alabama DOT extended an existing boardwalk
in a park adjacent to a highway widening project in Huntsville.
Crow Creek Mitigation Bank
The Crow Creek Site is approximately 450 acres and is located in
Jackson County. This is a combination of restoring a hardwood bottom
wetland and creating a waterfowl management area. The site was formerly
an agricultural site that was overrun with ragweed. Alabama DOT
has invested $1.4 million in this site, with 150 credits anticipated.
Town Creek Mitigation Bank
The Town Creek Mitigation Site is approximately 500 acres in Lawrence
County. This is a restoration of a hardwood bottom wetland. Tuskegee
University is helping to monitor the hydrology of this site through
use of barologger technology.
Robinsong Entrepreneurial Bank
There is a privately developed bank from which ALDOT has purchased
credits. The 650-acre site served primarily to replace a riparian
buffer for an airport project. The site has ~130 tree-planted acres
with 430 credits provided, of which 215 are designated as pre-credits.
After five years of monitoring, the remaining credits will be released.
For more information on these projects, please contact Katie McDermott, CTE technology transfer director.
