| CTE’s research program engages
multi-disciplinary teams of researchers and students within the
University of North Carolina system schools and Duke University
to investigate a broad range of transportation and environmental
concerns of importance to North Carolina and the southeastern region.
At the national level, CTE teams up with universities, consulting firms,
and governmental/non-governmental organizations to pursue critical research needs of benefit to transportation
and environmental agencies throughout the country.
- Research Support to the U.S. Department of Transportation
The U.S. Department of Transportation contracts with
CTE to lead research and education projects that address intermodal
transportation and environmental concerns.
- Participation in NCHRP Projects
CTE collaborates on research initiatives
through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP).
- Technical Assistance to State DOTs
State transportation departments seek CTE’s
assistance with process improvement studies that help to facilitate
timely project delivery with environmental excellence.
- CTE-NCDOT Joint Research Initiatives
CTE assists the North Carolina Department of Transportation with
sharing the results of the department’s environmental research program.
- CTE New Frontiers
CTE serves as a catalyst for the development of exciting new transportation and environmental research initiatives
that may require seed funding or other forms of research support.
